Students

Students make up the majority of people using facebook as a social utility to network friends.  They would be interested in this topic because so many of them post very personal information about themselves along with pictures of themselves doing some legally loose things.  They should be educated about who is monitoring their account, be it prospective employers or law enforcement.

Students have had real life experiences where they lost a job or got an underage drinking citation because of something in their profile.

Advertisers

Advertisers could be custom fitting what commercials they show you based on information in your profile. Let’s say that under my favorite music category I enter Radiohead.  Theres gonna be an advertisement for radiohead posters in the margin because of that.  I have even heard that Amazon.com and ebay are linked up with the once controversial “News Feed”.  The news feed could ruin the surprise I had planned when buying christmas presents online by publishing a story about me using ebay to buy my brother a novelty item.

Advertisers could answer my questions about how they use information in profiles to post an advertisement.

Law Enforcement

Perhaps only the Indiana PD would be interested in all the new ways they can catch underage drinkers.  There aren’t any real crimes for them to solve so all they have to do to issue more citations is browse facebook profiles for drinking pictures.

My question to law enforcement is this: If a persons profile has a privacy setting that only allows their friends to view the profile, what warrant is required to violate their privacy.

Employers

Employers want to know all they can about prospective employees and what better way is there to determine if an applicant has a drinking problem than by looking at pictures of them in social settings.

What types of employers are interested in viewing your profile? Which ones aren’t?  If the applicant is of age to drink but has pictures of themselves binge drinking, how bad is that?

Application Designers

The people who design games and and X me applications do not work directly for facebook.  They get people to use their application through facebook.
